Frank Reaugh first came to Texas with his parents in 1876. By the early 1880’s, he and his family moved to Dallas where he established his studio. By the time of his death in 1945, he was one of the most influential artists in the state having taught hundreds of students over his lengthy career. He frequently took his students on painting trips to the Davis Mountains, which remained one of his favorite subjects throughout his life.
