17 3/4″x23 1/2″
oil on canvas
Collection of the Bryan Museum, Galveston, Texas.
Fred Darge was classically trained at both the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Art Student’s League in New York, but he also spent much of his early adult years working as a cowboy in West Texas and New Mexico. He favored a naive, almost folk art style, of painting and most often depicted everyday scenes of life on the western trail.
